Announced in Budget 2020:
The Targeted Training & Apprenticeships Fund (TTAF) will pay the costs of learners of all ages to undertake vocational education and training.
For the next two and a half years starting on July 1 this year and until 31 December 2022:
- Apprentices working will have costs paid so there is no cost to the learner, apprentices or employees
- NZ Certificate courses will be covered – Some key targeted areas are the NZC in Youth Work, Mental Health & Addiction, Electrical Engineering, Hairdressing.
“It will include courses linked to industry skills needs, in building and construction, agriculture, and manufacturing, and also vocational courses like community health, counselling and care work. The fund will be available from 1 July 2020.
